It’s only Wednesday but I’m already plotting what I’ll be doing for the weekend.
Continuing on my quest to gussy up the interior of my home, I will be heading to 12th South for its annual Tour of Homes. I really really enjoyed the one of Belmont, and I know there are homes on 12th South that I’d love to see.
Tickets are only $8, it starts at 10am and ends at 5pm. There’s more information here
.
Go, see, and be inspired!!!
The staff here at Life á la mode (read: me) are not fans of Crocs. Those clog-like ones with the holes that also come in obnoxious neon colors. They’re not, in my books, appropriate for everyday-wear. Gardening, tide-pool wading.. um… you get the idea – they’re appropriate for more outdoor activities.
Someone at Crocs must have realized that (finally) and now, they are offering Crocs Prima. They’re really cute, they look a lot more like real shoes and (dare I say it) I actually want a pair. Or 2.

Probably not in fuchsia… but who knows? I’ve been in a very fuchsia mood lately.
I’ve always wanted one of these:

How much fun do those look?? TOO fun! Plus you keep your upper body from getting drenched everytime the wind blows. It would have been handy when living in wind-tunnel-city, Boston, but I want it here in Nashville just for the kitsch factor alone.
Or maybe one of these… I wish I could afford or justify buying something from Orla Kiely! Perhaps a yoga bag… or a purse… hell her patterns are so pretty I’d love to just have a fabric swatch!!

Love that green!
Work’s been keeping me busy, but I’m learning a lot of new things. For example, I have a new favorite flower now that I want to just fill my house with. Before I tell you what it is, I will say that peonies are still a big favorite of mine. For you peony fans out there who yearn as much as I do through the year for a bouquet of those babies, fret not – there’s an alternative that you can get year-round that smells even better than peonies and look just as luscious and pretty.

The Yves Piaget rose comes in various shades of pink, just like the peony but it smells absolutely divine. You can get these for $4 a stem at Ilex flowers in Belle Meade. These things are just gorgeous and a small cluster will be enough to send heavenly fragrance through a room.
I’m swooning just at the thought of them!!!
Ms. Tabitha wants needs a new couch. The one we have in our living room has served us well for the past 5 years of our dwelling in Nashville. Unfortunately, I’ve never liked it – I’m not a big fan of the slouchy couch, I much prefer solid, clean lines. Couches that are a little more contemporary without sacrificing comfort. Like so:

As a big fan of West Elm, I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of a store finally being opened in Nashville, barely 5 minutes from where I live. Come August, unless the husband and I manage to find a couch worthy of our vegging-on, we will be paying West Elm a visit and throwing down some cash for a new couch or sectional from their collections.
You know that episode of Friends where Rachel outfits her entire house with stuff from Pottery Barn? Well, I’m like that but with West Elm.

I can’t decide what I like more – the gorgeous shades of green on the plates, or the teeny-tiny placecard holder owls!

Lurve the print on the canvas boxes. Here’s a closer look:

Can’t think of a better way to get more organized, which was one of my goals this year! But first things first, I’m on the hunt for the perfect couch! But not without a few distractions like little wooden owls or canvas boxes along the way – all part of the fun of shopping!
I answer.
My apologies for not updating as frequently as I did when Life á la mode first started… you see, Ms. Tabitha is now partly, gainfully employed and have had no time to even shop, let alone talk about it!
So, at risk of taking the easy way out, if anyone has any suggestions or new shops or online fun places they know of that they’d like to share, email me at Ms Tabitha at g mail dot com! I will give credit where credit’s due, for sure!
This weekend, I go car shopping and I’ll let you know how the experience goes!
