Lucky lucky NY Blogger Wendy Lam (aka Nitrolicious) had a pair of custom Nike kicks made for her. The artist is none other than long-time, hometown friend Mark Ong/Sbtg. He’s been custom painting sneakers since we met back in the day (ok… more like 1999) and he’s only gotten better and better.

Celebs who’ve adorned his hand-painted, uniquely crafted masterpieces include Q-tip and the boys from Linkin Park. And also, The Husband who received a pair as a gift from Mark for our wedding. THANKS MARK. And THANKS JEAN!!!
Watch the video of nitrolicious in her sweet sweet new kicks here.
You can order your own sneakers from his website, keep updated on new stuff on his blog, and pretty soon you’ll be sauntering around town in your own pair! They’re hard to resist.

Life a la mode likes to support local enterprise! Our newest favorites? Boxmonsters! Say hello!

How insanely cute are these little guys? They’re made of a (non-toxic) clay, hand shaped lovingly by creater Danny Limor. Each one is different, each little monster has his own face and expression and you can either purchase them for a whopping $10 for a box of three (they come housed in a nice wooden box) or individually.
Danny will even do custom work for you if you have a specific color and/or expression you’d like.

And ultimately the ladies.
Yesterday, apparently, was National Men Make Dinner Day. This applies to men who very seldom cook for their families or wives or girlfriends. The ones who do cook regularly, I think it’s optional for them to make dinner on the first Thursday of November.
The site is very informative, complete with the rules, recipes and no-no’s. My favorite no-no? They’re not allowed to bar-b-que anything. I take that to mean they can’t use the grill and they have to cook in the kitchen, on the stove, pots and pans… prep work…
I think National Men Make Dinner day goes hand in hand with Porn for Women.

So ladies, mark your Calendar. Oh and btw, Porn for Women also has a calendar you can get.

And guys, you’re not missing out either if you head over to The Cotton Mill in Graces Plaza in Green Hills. Their range of brands seems to have expanded over the past couple of years, and they’re trying their best to cater to not just the Belle Meade moms but now to their kids and to young, working adults looking to ween their way into designer gear.
What better way to start than this sale right? Brands like Rock & Republic, Nanette Lapore, Theory for the girls, and Ted Baker, Chip & Pepper and Seven for men, just to name a few. Why Ted Baker’s not on sale for girls is beyond me… go to the website and check out the brand’s clothes – very fun! Trust the Brits to make fashion quirkier and way cooler.
And who knows? Maybe their formal wear is marked down too. What with big gala events coming up soon, might as well go check out the sale.
