Ashley’s Bride Guide

In January, I mentioned that I had embarked on a new journey that I’m enjoying. It’s about bloody time I actually told you guys what it is.  Most of you who know me personally already know this but I’m proud to announce that I’ve been blogging for Ashley’s Bride Guide.

It’s official, I love it.  It’s the best “job” I’ve had in years and I love that I still get to be involved in the wedding community.  Ashley is inspiring to work with, her energy and creativity are admirable and I hope to go far and grow with her and this site.

ABG is a wonderful resource for brides and even those of you who are in the event business – it links to some of the best vendors in town and is chock full of ideas.  Hope you can check it out some time, and if you know any brides, I hope you send them our way!

I think I’m going to have to get this!

I love long skirts (even though I’m only 5’3″) and I love supporting Asian designers.  This way, I get to do both! Check out their shop on etsy – it’s got so many wonderfully funky and edgy designs! Makes me wish it were still cold enough to wear their sweaters and coats! I may get this one anyway! LOVE IT!!!

This makes me want to go back to Singapore like yesterday and go shopping in their local boutiques – you can always find the cutest, non-trendy but super stylish clothes there!  This will do for now.

Now where’s my credit card……

Priscilla of Boston Trunk Show

Last Friday I started my weekend (and brushed the week’s dirt off) at the Bride Room here in Green Hills.  I was there as Louise‘s date and also visiting as a past Bride Room customer and fan.  I do love the girls there, they never forget a name or a face and that says a LOT, considering they see lots of those everyday and it’s been almost 4 years since I got hitched!

Friday was day 1 of the Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection trunk show.  This wasn’t an ordinary trunk show – the designer of the Platinum Collection himself, Mr. Kenneth Pool was here too!  I was quite in awe of his presence, and I tried my best not to girm so after politely shaking hands and exchanging a delightful conversation with him, I let him have his space and moved on to get some pictures of the beautiful people and the beautiful gowns.

Stephanie from The Bride Room with some delicious cupcakes from local bakery, B.Jackson’s.

Pretty pretty pretty pretty!!!

Stephanie, Charlotte Poling (boutique owner) and their models who donned these gowns so well.

Gorgeous

Here I am with my gorgeous date and Kenneth Pool.  Thank you to local photographer Erica (hope I spelled your name right) for snapping this pic for us.

This was my favorite gown by far.

For more pictures and a wonderfully detailed recap of the evening, visit my date’s blog The Thirty-Something Bride.  Like her, I was giddy to be in the same room as Kenneth Pool – it’s rare to interact with someone so talented and so genuinely nice.  I think the only other time I had this opportunity was when I met Romona Keveza at another trunk show.  Mr. Poole has an enviable resume, working with phenomenal talent (Vera Wang, Amsale just to name a couple) and when he listed Yves Saint Laurent as one of his favorite designers I was SOLD.

He entertained a fun Q&A session where I threw in one of my own queries.  He answered VERY diplomatically (hats off) but I really wish I had pulled him aside and asked him for an honest, off-the-record answer to my curiosity.  Oh well!  And by my description of the evening, I’m certainly not doing the man justice. Luckily, Louise did just that in her recap so definitely check her out after you’re done looking at the rest of my pictures from the evening.

View the full Platinum Collection from Priscilla of Boston at their website.

*le sigh*

I love weddings.

New beginnings

Filed under: Just plain haute,Online,Weddings — Ms. Tabitha @ 9:44 am

2009 was great for me and as the year passed, things got better and better.  I let myself enter new doors and let’s just say I’m thrilled about one particular door I stepped through.

I’ll keep you all updated on this when I’m given the “ok” to make an official announcement but let’s just say it’s in a realm I enjoy being a part of and I’m glad I won’t have to leave behind soon.

For now, here’s a gorgeous wedding blog I found this morning – Green Wedding Shoes.  Yes, I love weddings I think you already knew that but what I love even more about this blog are the images. They’re all so dreamy and vintage, such an inspiration and exactly how I wish I could capture all of the photographs I take.

This one made me laugh.

And oh, oh oh this is just exquisite!

I can’t wait to go through all the archived posts and see what other eye candy I come across.  Hope you enjoy it too!

Great Idea

Saw this on Design*Sponge today, and I love the idea! Might have to order myself some tiffins soon.

I’m also into Bento boxes, takes me back to my childhood when I had to pack a lunch to school in a plastic box that had funny Japanese cartoons on it.  I’ve requested that my sister find some for me and bring them over when she visits in a couple of months. Can’t wait.

Have a great weekend, I will now leave you with the post from today’s D*S blog about another great way to keep from wasting paper and plastic while grocery shopping. Enjoy!

TOW I’m just all over the place

- Last Wednesday, I went to the Her Nashville 1st Anniversary party at the construction-in-progress Terrazzo high rise in The Gulch.  In spite of the terrible acoustics, it was a fun soiree to be at.  There were so many (SO many) cute girls in cute dresses, the food was really good alongside the cute, pink beverages (the theme was “pink” and the caterer even provided pink desserts) and it looked like everyone had a great time. I would like to extend huge congratulations the ladies at Her Nashville for a successful party and successful first year.

I bumped into the lovely Ashley of Ashley’s Bridal Guide and she introduced me to Hillary Robson who runs Brocade Design Arts, a floral, paper and event design company.  Later on in the evening, a girl whose outfit I was admiring came over to introduce herself.  Turns out, she’s a fashion designer who is having a trunk show at Clothing Exchange in Hillsboro Village on July 11th.  Check out Amy B on her MySpace page.
- The Husband and I rid ourselves of a lot of stuff this weekend.  Old mattresses went to the dump, and some old electronics, an elliptical machine and end tables went to Goodwill.  It was probably the hottest day ever on Saturday, the day we chose to lug heavy crap in and out of a rental van.  We also got a sofa bed from Ikea by way of Modernash.  Nick and Nate over there are really nice, and it won’t be the last time we’re getting stuff from Ikea through them.

My goal is to get my kitchen dining area into a fully functional space. I’ve moved my iMac in here so we can look up recipes as we cook, or watch DVD’s. Plus it’s such a pleasant, airy space so it will be my workstation.  Two of the walls are finally painted and we have plans for the other two walls and once everything’s done, this room is going to be awesome.  And it’s just the beginning.  We’ll be moving on to the other rooms in the house and I have a feeling, now that I’ve done it somewhat successfully in one room, that it’ll be a quicker task in the others.

And once I have it looking how I want it to, I’ll have before and after pictures on here for you to see.  It already feels like a brand new room with the new color.  I love being in here!

- This week’s looking to be pretty hectic and busy but it’s all good stuff. Work’s going really well right now, I’m just actively trying to be more goal oriented and organized.  Hope you all have a great week ahead! And if you have any paint color suggestions, share them! I love hearing how people decorate their rooms and why they picked what they did.

Multi-talented

Not only does she crochet the cutest cold weather accessories, but my friend Abby of Abbyhugs also writes for Her Nashville’s print edition.  You might have already read her monthly Big Day columns that feature local couples and their weddings.

HerNashville celebrates their first anniversary tonight at Terrazzo in the Gulch. Catering is by my favorite caterer in TN, Chef’s Market (so you know the food’s going to be fantastic) and I’m excited to go to the party with Abby this evening.

I’m so proud of my creative friends!

Custom Kicks

Filed under: For the boys,Just plain haute,Singapore — Ms. Tabitha @ 10:27 am

Lucky lucky NY Blogger Wendy Lam (aka Nitrolicious) had a pair of custom Nike kicks made for her.  The artist is none other than long-time, hometown friend Mark Ong/Sbtg.  He’s been custom painting sneakers since we met back in the day (ok… more like 1999) and he’s only gotten better and better.

Celebs who’ve adorned his hand-painted, uniquely crafted masterpieces include Q-tip and the boys from Linkin Park. And also, The Husband who received a pair as a gift from Mark for our wedding. THANKS MARK. And THANKS JEAN!!!

Watch the video of nitrolicious in her sweet sweet new kicks here.

You can order your own sneakers from his website, keep updated on new stuff on his blog, and pretty soon you’ll be sauntering around town in your own pair! They’re hard to resist.
